Space and Consciousness: Personal Expression

There is an inextricable link between art and space. It can present different attitudes to a space through many forms and shapes. Different from traditional art galleries, how can we combine artworks with different commercial venues, balancing the beauty of art and the business value for the brands? Also, how does digital art impact the curation of the exhibitions?

This time we invited the speakers with unique insights of curation, art and design, and retail to talk about art and business.

Ideas to wake up to episode 13 will be at EAST Beijing on 3^rd November.

In this cozy year-end holiday season, EAST Beijing is happy to announce that they collaborate with local artist Bai Fan to present an artistic eco-friendly installation “The Beauty of Cycles: Nature’s Brushstrokes” in the center of hotel lobby to celebrate this holiday season. More than an artistic symbol to the festival, this installation is a deep exploration and practice of the concept of environmental protection in the context of sustainable development and circular economy.

RECYCLE
Reuse and recycle. Artist Bai Fan turned the used hotel materials such as used coffee grounds, tea leaves, cork wine stopper, and recycled paper into a new life, using these materials to create the “east” letters in the center of this art piece. Each part is a natural stroke that comes together to form a complete and unique visual.

ART
This artwork is not only a regeneration of matter, but also an exploration of art forms. It combines hotel’s name and Christmas tree visual from one perspective and reveals the aesthetics of the earth from another.

THE COLOUR
The seven orange colour boards are the symbol of the sun and represent the unity and change of the land. The blue colour stand and the white texture represent the ocean, which forming a complete story of the earth.

This is a unique experience that combines ecological awareness with artistic beauty and is worth exploring and thinking for everyone who cares about sustainable development. The installation will be unveiled in the lobby for the whole month of December.

EAST Beijing is delighted to announce that hotel launched its customized eco cup to support the community being sustainability.
The cup is made of bamboo powder, rich husk, crop straw and other natural plant fibers, by compression at high temperature and it has the follow characteristics:

• Waterproof, high strength, durable – not easy to burn or break

We are delighted to announce that both FEAST (Food by EAST) and Domain have received the Three-Leaf rating from Swire Properties Green Kitchen Scheme. 

MEASURES

• Installed variable-speed exhaust blower to reduce electricity usage.
• Using LED light bulbs in all kitchen lighting.
• Installed water economizers on all water taps and adjusted to appropriate water discharge.
• Using paper straws, biodegradable corn powder takeaway packaging to replace plastic ones.
• Installed portable water equipment on all water taps.

We know that there’s still a long way to go and lots of things to do to protect our homeland and implement sustainability into every aspect of life.  But we are happy to do our part and bring it into our daily operations, and of course, we’ll continue to do so!
