At EAST, sustainability is a core value that inspires us to make smarter choices, lighten our impact on the planet and have a marked improvement on the guest experience.
SAVING WATER, MADE SIMPLE
Our in-room taps feature flow controllers, saving approximately 184,000 plastic bottles per year. At FEAST, we've introduced flow rate restrictors on our taps, we also serve Belu water at all restaurants and bars, and are eliminating single-use bottles by offering filtered water on tap.
EARTHCHECK BRONZE BENCHMARKED STATUS
EAST Hong Kong reached Bronze Benchmarked status within the EarthCheck Certified program, recognising our sustainability performance across energy and water use, carbon emissions and community impact. Key achievements include:
LUÜNA menstrual products
LUÜNA menstrual products are offered on a complimentary basis as part of our in‑room amenities—an initiative that underscores the hotel’s commitment to female empowerment and meeting the unique needs of our guests. It marks a significant step toward creating a more inclusive and comfortable environment for women of all backgrounds.
THREE STARS FOOD MADE GOOD STANDARD FOR FEAST & Sugar
FEAST and Sugar achieved a three-stars rating in the Food Made Good Standard - highlighting our commitment to sourcing, community, and environmental performance. Key achievements include:
- Recycling over 6,400 kg of oyster shells for reef restoration
- Decomposing over 46,000 kg of food waste with ORCA digesters
- Sourcing sustainable seafood through the WWF Sustainable Seafood Programme
- Supporting local farmers and fishers through Mission R's ‘Eat Local’ campaign
THREE LEAFS FOR FEAST
To optimise energy, water, and exhaust efficiency, we’ve introduced induction cookers and water‑flow restrictors—earning FEAST a Three Leaf rating from Swire Properties’ Green Kitchen Initiative.
ZERO FOODPRINT ASIA
We team up with Zero Foodprint Asia (ZFPA), a local non-profit organisation focused on scaling regenerative farming practices.
1% of your bill at FEAST, Domain, and Sugar will be donated to ZFPA to fund and support regional smallholder farmers adopt climate-friendly practices to grow food that is better for people and the planet.
DIGITALISED GUEST SERVICES
Accessing room service to order from FEAST and Domain can now be done completely digitally by scanning QR codes with your phone — reducing the need to print and update menus.
REUSE, UPCYCLE & RECYCLE
As we work towards a minimal waste experience at EAST, we are proud to share that over 80% of our hotel products are reusable or recyclable.
WALK OR RIDE AT YOUR OWN PACE
We encourage guests to slow down and where possible, explore the neighbourhood and Hong Kong on foot or bicycle. Complimentary bicycle rentals are available.
NATURAL, EFFICIENT LIGHTING
Our floor-to-ceiling windows, energy-efficient dimmers and motion sensors allow us to light our spaces naturally and efficiently. In alignment with the HKSAR Government's Charter on External Light, we switch off decorative lights every night.
LESS FREQUENCY, LESS IMPACT
Using the provided request bed linen changes sign when needed, saves unnecessary washing. The result is the conservation of water and energy, reducing the use of chemicals and prolonging the life of our linens.
OUR FRESH AIR STANDARD
In our efforts to provide safe and healthy spaces for our guests and team members, we have been awarded an Excellent Class according to the IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) Certification Scheme by Hong Kong's Environmental Protection Department.

Sustainability is a team effort. Through our work with local brands such as Conspiracy Chocolate and BeCandle, we make treading lighter - a daily decision everyone can enjoy.

In the decade since I founded BeCandle, my team and I have dedicated ourselves to creating beautiful aromatic crafts with a strong focus on design and sustainability. It was such a pleasure collaborating with EAST Hong Kong to create bespoke EAST-inspired scented candles and hosting a pop-up there. This has been a wonderful platform to not only showcase our locally designed and produced products, but also to present our other services to a wider audience.
