Wake up to art at EAST Miami. Inspired by sunlight, downtown living and Miami’s artsy and design-driven neighborhoods, our approach to art and design is bursting with energy and playfulness. 

We’re encouraging creativity, engaging with the artistic community and with the launch of our new art programme Art at EAST:Urban Remix, helping go-getting urbanites and travellers see the city through a new lens.

URBAN REMIX

Introducing Art at EAST: Urban Remix. We're exploring urban living through experiences at each of our three hotels in Miami, Hong Kong and Beijing by collaborating with local artists and designers to pose thoughtful questions. How can we live more sustainably? How do we give reclaimed materials new meaning? Can we bring more greenery into urban spaces? 

MIAMI EDITION

Art at EAST: Urban Remix kicked off in Miami at the end of 2019 with artist Carlos Betancourt’s playful installation 'On the Edge: The Hopeful Forest.' Launched during Art Week 2019, Betancourt explored the idea of memories and past/present through a series of sculptural totems that repurposes abandoned objects like skateboards and mementos collected from the community.

In collaboration with local artists, we’re bringing Urban Remix to Hong Kong later this year and Beijing in 2021.

HARMONIOUS DESIGN

With lush greenery, natural light and Feng Shui influenced design elements, EAST Miami invites guests to explore meditative and high-energy spaces, colorful art pieces and sustainable architectural features. The hotel’s design was a collaborative effort from award-winning, Miami-based architecture firm Arquitectonica, New York interior design company Clodagh Designs, and LA based restaurant and bar designers Studio Collective.

WARM WELCOME

Guests are drawn to Clodagh's copper pipes installation that resembles an upside-down organ.

DESIGNED FOR RELAXATION

Each guest room reflects the natural environment with lightly bleached floors that embody the feel of driftwood, ample sunlight and sustainably sourced wooden furniture. The ocean is brought into the space through artwork over the bed, lulling guests into a restful zen state while private balconies allow them to enjoy Miami’s weather.

INFINITE SPACES

LA-based Studio Collective designed EAST Miami’s three signature dining spaces, the rustic and warm vibes of Quinto La Huella the tropical paradise of Sugar, a swish rooftop bar with lush Asian influences, and the tucked away speakeasy, Tea Room. Connecting these spaces is EAST’s Insta-famous elevator with its infinity light installation that creates a cosmic and otherworldly effect; like peering into the milky way. 

POSITIVE ENERGY FLOW

The way energy flows through EAST Miami has been inspired by Feng Shui, radiesthesia, and crystal healing techniques – bringing harmony and balance to every space. The building was blessed by Buddhist monks and Clodagh buried crystals into the building’s foundation to symbolize a foundation of positive intentions. 

ANTIQUE SCULPTURES

‘Perfection is imperfection,’ says creative ingenue Andrianna Shamaris. Sourced by Shamaris from Southeast Asia, the antique wooden sculptures with pearl inlay on the 39th floor bring an organic elegance and mysterious beauty to the space.

GLASS MOSAIC

Let there be light. Glass mosaic artist Michael Curry created two custom art pieces for EAST Miami’s lobby elevator vestibules. The hand-cut hypnotic glass sculptures reflect surrounding light and bring extra brightness into the hotel. 

INTO THE LIGHT

Dynamic and expressive, British artist Vesna Milinkovic’s abstract masterpiece ‘Into the Light’ explores the cosmic sense of being beyond the ordinary activities of daily life. Experimental and fluid, this piece transports viewers to another dimension.

IVORY TOWER BLUES

"It was very creative and dreamy to abstractly paint the words to a song in soft layers allowing spectators to speculate what they read."

Oil painter Ritchard Rodriguez’s thought-provoking artwork uses evocative gestural brushstrokes that resemble abstract words to invite deeper contemplation.
