Across all EAST properties, we're bringing together inspiring individuals to broaden our understanding of good food - from simply healthy food that feeds your body to how it can also fuel your mood, connections, and communities.
"Bite of Happiness", EAST Miami's "Ideas To Wake Up To" conversation, connects women in wellness who continuously inspire their own communities, to share with us a wellness-focused mindset to food and how it can contribute to holistic wellbeing.
Brittany Berger is an author and entrepreneur in the mental health and wellness space. Passionate about empowering and inspiring others, she helps individuals find their purpose through her motivational speaking platform, mindfulness coaching, and wellness events.
As an intuitive life and health coach, Giselle Orentas shares her lifestyle through social media and wellness classes. Her authentic online sharing has empowered more than 10,000 women to take control of their growth, focus on mental health and ultimately transform their lives.
Kelly Blanco is the traffic and entertainment reporter for NBC 6. A firm believer in giving back, she donates her time to various organizations in South Florida and is a strong advocate for people with disabilities. In 2020, she was named one of Ocean Drive Magazine's "Women of Influence" for her contributions to the community before and during the pandemic.
Three leaders in social enterprise, nutrition, and media unite over a mutual love for food at EAST Hong Kong's "Bite of Happiness" talk. As part of our “Ideas To Wake Up To” series, they exchange interesting ideas, their own experiences with food and nutrition, and what good food means to them.
A former finance professional, Cheman Cheung is now the Founder of F&B and wellness brand núte. From smoothie bars to bentos, he and his team carefully study science and sustainability to craft recipes using nutritious, planet-friendly ingredients, all while educating people on their relationship with food and nature.
As the Founder of Encompass HK, Benita Chick educates organizations about diversity & inclusion and sustainable development goals. She is also heavily involved in the community, in areas of youth development, equal rights, and more. Through curating several food programs, she has combined her love for food with ways to explore and question these social issues.
Gloria Chung has more than a decade of experience as a food and travel writer, having written for several publications including Vogue China and ELLE Hong Kong. In addition, she has garnered a social media presence as foodandtravelhk on Instagram, through which she has collaborated with named brands such as Cathay Pacific, Marriot, and Le Creuset.
In EAST Beijing's "Ideas To Wake Up To” event, we engage with influential talents across academia, culinary arts, and entrepreneurship. Under the theme "Bite of Happiness", they chat about the value of community, especially after COVID, and the way food helps build that social connection.
Jazz Li holds a doctorate degree from the Central Academy of Fine Arts. His main focus is in arts therapy and educational psychology, studying the cultural differences between East and West. He has participated in several notable international conferences on global leadership and education.
An accredited Dietitian and Pastry Chef turned influencer, Coco has built a career and community around her passion for food. She now has over 1.22m followers on Weibo and her own cooking channel on Xia Chu Fang where she shares recipes with her 14k followers. Kou Kou has also appeared as a guest speaker and judge on several travel and food programs such as "Taste of China" on CCTV.
Claire Du is the Co-founder of Achievers Circle, a Beijing-based premium membership program providing world class professional and social functions. With her bright and friendly personality, she hosts workshops, masterclasses, and culinary experiences with top sommeliers and leading gourmets. Through community, Claire aims to promote global connection and cross-cultural exchanges between China and the world.
From a self-described “couch potato” to an elite endurance athlete, Special Olympics Florida triathlete Chris Nikic’s journey is captivating. In advance of the Miami Race for Inclusion, we hosted a special session of our speaker series Ideas To Wake Up To at EAST Miami where Chris shared his story to becoming the first person with Down syndrome to complete an IRONMAN® competition.
